Help Insurance

Insurance information, explained clearly.

Help Insurance is an independent website for people in the United States. We research official and public sources and turn them into plain-English guides. We do not sell insurance.

How to read a declarations page

The first page of an auto policy lists each coverage with a limit or a deductible. This sample is an illustration, not a real policy or price.

  • Bodily injury liability$100,000 / $300,000

The most the policy pays per injured person and per accident when you are at fault.

  • Property damage liability$100,000

The most it pays for other people's vehicles and property.

  • Uninsured motorist$100,000 / $300,000

Your own injuries when the at-fault driver has no insurance.

  • Collision$500 deductible

You pay the first $500 of a covered crash repair to your own car.

  • Comprehensive$500 deductible

Theft, hail, fire, flood and animal strikes, after the same $500.

Why you can rely on what you read here

Independent
We are not an insurer, agent or broker. We do not sell policies or collect quote requests.
Official sources first
Figures and legal requirements come from regulators, state agencies and primary research, and each one is linked.
No invented numbers
When a reliable figure does not exist, we say so instead of estimating one.
Dated and corrected
Every guide shows when it was published and last updated, and we fix errors that readers report.
